Under The Radar

Mark hammered out the drums, bass
and guitars on both of these tracks
and sent them off to Mike for lyrics.
According to Mike, the first song, Rain,
was a breeze to write, but the second
one took a while to figure out.
But once he had it though, it all made
sense. And together they're like an
opus of sorts. One can't much live
without the other. Can you DIG it??

Rain / Cemetery Blues

Michael Goff, Mark Johnson

Rain fell through the sunlight
Green grass all around
Fruit trees on the right
A breeze blew, didn't hear a sound

I woke up, it was just a dream
Couldn't figure out what I'd seen
Close to me, so serene
Thought it was real, but it was all a dream
Just a dream
So I crawled back into bed

Reached up, pulled the fruit down
Took a bite, it was wet, sweet and tart
Suddenly, I heard rain hit the ground
A song deep, deep in my heart

I woke up, it was just a dream
Couldn't figure out what I'd seen
Close to me, so serene
Thought it was real, but it was all a dream

Sat down under the fruit tree
Knew the next song would come to me

I woke up, it was just a dream
Couldn't figure out what I'd seen
Close to me, so serene
Thought it was real, but it was all a dream
Just a dream
Just a dream

Cemetery Blues

I get up with the moon like I always do
Wolf down a big bowl of corned beef stew
And right away I read the obituary news
I guess you could say I got those cemetery blues
You should really see this place; we got caskets and head stones
Incinerator units and piles of old bones

It's what I do
I just keep diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh, yeah
All I keep on doin is just diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh
What a life
Got those cemetery blues

I head on past the grave sites; to the back lot I go
Got a shovel, a pickaxe and a casket in tow
Gotto bury em deep, like six feet under
Keep em all away from the rain, lightning and thunder
No one wants to see you diggin in the daylight
So I always bring along a lantern and a flashlight

It's all I ever do
I just keep diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh, yeah
All I keep on doin is just diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh
What a life
Got those cemetery blues
Yeah, cemetery blues
I got those cemetery blues
Cemetery blues

When they're all dead and buried, I head back to the morgue
Sometimes I feel like a zombie or an old borg
I wash it all away with a bottle of cold brew
The life of the son of a graveyard guru
If you ever find yourself in the unemployment line
Come on over here where the sun don't shine

It's what I want to do
I just keep diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh, yeah
All I keep on doin is just diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh
It's what I do
I keep on diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh, yeah
All I ever do is just diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, diggin, oh
What a life
